Recipes to take you from chai making expert to home chef without trying too hard. Upgrade your lifestyle with some great food.
During this period of stay-at-home, most of us have had to do lots that we had never done before. Doing jhadu-pocha every day has become normal and there are only so many times you can experiment on your own or someone else’s hair. This has left a few other things for us to do, cooking being high up on that list. While both of us at You’re Doing Great(?) love to cook, we understand it’s not that easy for everyone. While making maggi, chai and sandwiches are great, we have put together a list of easy to follow recipes in preparation to get you to be the best host ever, while also getting more acquainted with kitchen practices.
BEVERAGES

This recipe for Thai iced tea seems long but is actually super easy to make, the waiting time is the long part. It is the perfect mix of creamy and refreshing and is the perfect accompaniment to a spicy meal. Don’t be intimidated by all the spices, the tea will be phenomenal even if you choose to omit a few!

Frozen margaritas are an easy way to make a weeknight dinner and make it into a mini mid-week party. This recipe is refreshing and makes the most of the mango season while it lasts. Honestly, this can be made without the alcohol and tastes just as great! Just remember to keep it all cold for the best consistency!

MAINS

This is an easy way to change up how you eat gobi and channa. This simple to follow recipe leaves room to mess around with the spice levels and how you like to eat your food. Also don’t be shy to substitute the avocado sauce with some sour cream and salsa because while we love the avocados, they are hard to come by sometimes.
(P.s. these pair GREAT with the margs!)
This recipe is a testament to the fact that for food to be good, it just needs to be seasoned well. This is a great recipe to make with old rice. Also, trust me when I say, normal basil works just as well as Thai basil and dried basil is nothing to be ashamed of. This meal takes under 30 minutes and will wow anyone who tastes it.
As the rains are settling in, there is nothing that is more comforting than a hot, filling bowl of spicy, stewy bhat. Bisi Bele Bhat is a combination of arguably all the best spices and ingredients all dumped in a pot of goodness. While it may seem like there are a lot of ingredients, they are familiar to most Indian kitchens and I promise these are the starter pack to food all over India.
This food-network gem makes a quick, fresh but filling pasta dinner. This recipe does call for some specific ingredients, but feel free to mess around a little with them. Also, please never forget to salt your pasta water for it to taste like the sea!
Mushroom melts are pillowy, creamy sandwiches with crispy outsides that are bound to take you to sandwich heaven. This recipe can be substituted with the mushrooms of your choice (wine is optional) but make sure to cook out all the water for the perfect crispy outside!

SIDES AND TOPPINGS
Jammy onions are seriously underrated. They are an elevating element to most foods and can be added to so many things from this list itself. While making anything just consider topping it off with some of these and take your burgers from Plain Jane to Stunner Steve just like that!

DESSERT

This is a recipe I SWEAR BY. It makes the best, most moist chocolate cake that will satisfy all your sweet tooth cravings. It is easy to follow and forgiving. It tastes phenomenal even without toppings and is honestly something I could eat everyday post-dinner for the rest of my life and never be bored of it.
